Sugar Free Scout (sugarfreescout.com) is an independent editorial website covering low-sugar and sugar-free food and drink. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and how we look after it.

The data we collect

Newsletter subscribers

If you sign up to The Weekly Scout, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your name. We use this to send you our newsletter and occasional updates about the site. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email we send.

We do not share subscriber or visitor data with PR contacts, brands, or agencies we work with for product samples or reviews. Any product samples we receive are unrelated to personal data about our readers.

Some articles contain affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The retailer's own privacy policy applies to any data you provide during that transaction; we do not receive your personal or payment details from these purchases.

How long we keep data

We keep newsletter subscriber data for as long as you remain subscribed, and delete it within a reasonable period after you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google Analytics' standard retention settings. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct inaccurate data
  • Ask us to delete your data
  • Object to or restrict certain processing
  • Withdraw consent at any time (for example, by unsubscribing)
